As a (Category) Buyer you are in contact with several account teams across Europe and with our approved supplier base in Europe and the Far East, to ensure optimal sourcing and buying within a specific product category. You aim to reach operational excellence, in line with adm procurement strategies set out by the Category Management Team.
Main duties/responsibilities:
- Research and select quality products and materials;
- Lead and manage product developments;
- Daily contact with the various account teams, based on their briefs, provide competitive quotes and support them with issue resolution;
- Build relationship with suppliers, both in Europe and Far East, and negotiate with them for the best price, quantities and delivery timescales;
- Work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure compliance with sustainability standards and promote sustainable practices throughout the supply chain;
- Conduct price benchmarking;
- Involved in quality assurance and quality control activities;
- Work collaboratively with other departments such as Production Planners, Category Management & Procurement, Operations and Logistics;
- Weekly status update reports to the Buying Manager.

Knowledge/Experience:
- Experience working in purchasing / procurement roles within the relevant product category;
- Knowledge of product regulations and compliance standards;
- Possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget;
- Result driven & persuasive;
- Must have good multi-tasking skills and work well in deadline-oriented environment;
- Critical thinking, attention to details and ability to make decisions;
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Able to work well in a team;
- Excellent IT and computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint);
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- English is a must, other European languages or Chinese is a plus;
- Knowledge of sales and marketing principle is advantageous, commercials mindset.
