Supplier Development Quality Engineer
Responsibilities: The Supplier Development Quality Engineer, will be responsible for supporting and overseeing the suppliers to ensure their performance aligns with our company's high-quality standards. The tasks will include:
- Developing action plans from a process-oriented perspective for problematic suppliers, with a focus on prevention and the application of quality and problem-solving methods.
- Monitoring supplier performance, including incidents, PPM (Parts Per Million) rates, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Developing and implementing effective action plans to improve the performance of underperforming suppliers.
- Identifying supplier improvements from a manufacturing standpoint and ensuring effective actions are taken to enhance key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborating with production sites to address supplier-related performance issues, including conducting 8D verifications and reviewing containment processes.
- Providing support and potentially leading new program launches, supplier relocations, resource projects, and similar initiatives.
- Managing suppliers by using CAQ systems and SAP.
- Supporting and coordinating APQP projects (Advanced Product Quality Planning) for suppliers.
- Defining and agreeing on actions with suppliers to achieve Zero Defect PPM targets.
- Developing supplier systems in all aspects of quality and safety.
- Approving new suppliers in coordination with production facilities.
- Conducting technology audits and benchmarking for continuous improvement.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive knowledge of APQP, VDA 6.3, ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (it's a must), ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Strong statistical knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or industrial engineering, master's degree preferred.
- Familiarity with SAP and CAQ systems.
- Proficiency in quality core tools such as 8D, RGA/APQP, PPF/PPAP, special characteristics, PLP, FMEA, MSA/PMF, and SPC.
- Fluent in English
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance and supplier quality engineering.
- Experience in team leadership.
- Project management experience.
- Collaboration with suppliers at a managerial level.
- Application of problem-solving methods and tools.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel (approximately 40-60% domestically and internationally).
