Tax/VAT Specialist
Join an international finance team where you’ll support German VAT compliance and reporting, collaborating with Finance teams and working with SAP in a dynamic, cross-border environment.
• VAT Compliance & Reporting: Prepare, review and submit periodic VAT returns and related filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax regulations.
• Indirect Tax Analysis: Analyze VAT transactions, investigate discrepancies, and ensure correct tax treatment in line with international VAT rules, mainly German requirements.
• Tax Accounting: Ensure accurate posting and reconciliation of VAT accounts, including timely resolution of outstanding items and alignment with financial records.
• Tax Advisory Support: Provide guidance on VAT implications for business transactions, projects and new processes, ensuring compliance with tax legislation.
• Local German Gaap Exposure is an advantage
• Month-End Support: Collaborate with Finance/GL teams during month-end and year-end closing to ensure accurate tax accruals and VAT balance reconciliation.
• Documentation & Audit Support: Prepare and maintain tax documentation and support internal and external audits by providing relevant tax data and explanations.
• Process Improvement: Drive improvements in VAT-related processes and controls, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to internal policies.
• Compliance & Policy Adherence: Ensure alignment with tax legislation, company policies, and global tax frameworks
As Competencies & Requirements
•A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in tax, VAT compliance, indirect tax accounting, or a similar fiscal role.
• Strong understanding of VAT legislation and indirect tax principles; experience with HGB-related tax requirements is an advantage.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail, particularly in reviewing tax data and reconciliations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with Finance, GL, and external auditors.
• Strong time management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
