Commodity Buyer
We are looking for a Commodity Buyer to coordinate strategic purchasing activities for three production plants located in France and Germany.
The role will primarily focus on plastic commodities, while also covering rubber and metal components. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing commodity strategies, managing suppliers, supporting supplier development, and delivering measurable hard savings.
Key Responsibilities
Commodity Strategy
Develop and implement purchasing strategies for plastic, rubber, and metal commodities.
Coordinate commodity-related purchasing activities across three production plants in France and Germany.
Analyze supplier markets, raw material price developments, production capacity, and supply risks.
Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, localization, dual sourcing, and cost optimization.
Manage and continuously improve the supplier portfolio.
Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to align sourcing strategies with operational and technical requirements.
Strategic Sourcing
Lead RFQ processes, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and supplier selection.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery conditions, tooling costs, and long-term commercial agreements.
Deliver measurable hard savings through negotiations, supplier changes, cost optimization, and value engineering.
Perform cost breakdown analyses and benchmark supplier quotations.
Support the introduction of new suppliers and ensure a smooth transition into production.
Monitor commodity performance and report cost-saving progress and purchasing KPIs.
Supplier Development
Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, cost, and capacity.
Support supplier improvement plans, audits, and corrective actions.
Candidate Profile
Strong experience with plastic commodities and injection molding.
Experience with rubber and metal commodities is an advantage.
Good understanding of supplier manufacturing processes, tooling, and technical cost structures.
Experience with supplier development, cost analysis, and commercial negotiations.
Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
Advanced English skills; French is an advantage.
Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Availability for occasional travel to production plants in France and German
